Tasks:
1: Identify security breaches, including aggressive behavior of patients that could affect the health and safety of staff and patients.
2: Provide direct treatment to patients during individual/group sessions and document observed patient responses and progress.
3: Conduct assessments of patient behavior to determine future treatment needed.
4: Maintain storage and destruction of confidential records and documentation.
5: Assist in the de-escalation of aggressive behavior of patients.
6: Assist coordinators, directors/assistants, and other course/group developers in identifying resource materials, treatment manuals, lesson plans, and other clinically relevant materials needed to ensure continuity of care.
7: Assist management with information regarding patient progress, behavioral issues, and assessments to maintain facility service needs, resources, and staff development needs.
8: Participate in reviews of each patient in order to provide input on progress in recovery, and report on any collateral contacts.
9: Facilitate recovery-oriented groups as defined in the Treatment Plan.
10: Assume advocacy role with patients by apprising them of services and resources available to help their recovery.
Knowledge, Skill, or Ability:
1: Knowledge of basic principles of behavior analysis, including implementation techniques.
2: Knowledge of ethical considerations regarding behavior modification.
3: Knowledge of behavioral assessment procedures to increase adaptive and decrease maladaptive behavior.
4: Knowledge of managing behavioral emergencies.
5: Knowledge of basic types and characteristics of developmental disabilities.
6: Knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to behavioral programming.
7: Knowledge of methods of defining and measuring behavior.
8: Knowledge of methods of collecting and displaying data.
9: Knowledge of methods to promote behavioral generalization and maintenance.
10: Knowledge of basic pathology involved in diseases and injuries resulting in cognitive and physical disabilities.
11: Ability to analyze complex behavior of patients.
12: Ability to work with professional personnel to coordinate effective behavioral services.
13: Ability to motivate patients to participate in treatment groups and therapeutic programming.
14: Ability to prepare reports and keep records to be included in treatment plans.
