Instructions:

Task:
1. Supervise students during classroom activities (e.g., educational, vocational, etc.) to maintain safety and security.
2. Assist students to become productive and contributing members of society to improve physical, intellectual, and vocational functioning.
3. Teach required skills to aid the students’ rehabilitation process.
4. Respond to instances of disruptive or assaultive behaviors by appropriately addressing situations.
5. Modify and adjust curriculum and service delivery by accommodate student needs.
6. Instruct students (i.e., individual and group) utilizing appropriate curriculum to meet educational, life skills, and vocational goals.
7. Develop curriculum (e.g., daily lesson plans, special education, individualized planning, etc.) to ensure program meet instructional goals as they relate to Common Core standards.
8. Manage the classroom utilizing written rules, oral direction, proximity, etc.
9. Evaluate student progress using appropriate assessments.
10. Counsel and assist students with setting and meeting educational goals.
11. Prepare teaching materials (e.g., graphs, charts, handouts, etc.) to meet student needs within the approved curriculum.
Knowledge, Skill, or Ability:
1. Knowledge of remedial teaching and adaptive instruction techniques to address student deficits.
2. Knowledge of the educationally handicapped and those with mental illness.
3. Knowledge of principles and methods of teaching in order to provide a variety of instructional programs to students.
4. Knowledge of physical limitations and needs of students to provide accommodations and assistance.
5. Knowledge of emotional problems and needs of students.
6. Knowledge of principles of educational psychology as applied to teaching to provide a positive learning environment.
7. Knowledge of current educational tests and administration methods used to identify specific student academic needs.
8. Ability to gain the interest, respect, and cooperation of students.
9. Ability to model and teach socially acceptable attitudes for students to support learning and maintain standards for student behavior.
10. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
11. Ability to provide leadership and motivation to students.
