1. Administer oral and topical medications and observed patients for normal and abnormal reactions, recorded results, and notified appropriate healthcare personnel, Registered Nurse, Primary Care Provider, etc.
2. Assist the Primary Care Provider, Registered Nurse, and other health care providers with counting, distributing, and accounting for all medical supplies to prevent loss or misuse.
3. Assist the Registered Nurses and Primary Care Physicians with clinic appointments (e.g., preparing medical records for sick patients, ensuring all forms are available and completed, scheduling, appointments) to document patient contacts.
4. Attend huddles within the respective clinic to discuss patient status (e.g., patients scheduled for the day, hospital returns, transfers, discharges, and patients who are in the care of outside hospitals).
5. Check the medication list and distributed all deliveries of medications to ensure patients can continue with their care and medical treatments by taking their prescribed medication.
6. Document all nursing activities in the patient medical record, including observations and recommendations, treatment interventions, and patient education to capture all patient history and contacts.
7. Inspect equipment, structures, or materials in the clinic to identify the cause of errors, problems, and/or defects and reported to the appropriate department/unit.
8. Instruct patients on medications, potential side effect(s) associated with the medication, and how to avoid or manage them if they occur.
9. Monitor and record patient behavior to assist mental health professionals with the treatment planning and formal evaluation processes.
10. Motivate, educate, and assist patients to develop self-reliance in activities for daily living.
11. Perform treatments and procedures (e.g., administering enteral feeding, monitoring blood glucose, performing dressing changes, urinary catheterization, colostomy care, and administering enemas) to provide patient care.
12. Perform various tests and treatments (e.g., hypodermic injections, blood draws, tuberculin skin tests, immunizations, pregnancy tests, Electrocardiogram, hearing tests, vision tests, and asthmatic inhalation therapy) to initiate the testing process.
13. Prepare patients and examination rooms to assist Registered Nurses and/or Primary Care Providers in examining and treating patients.
14. Report adverse reactions and/or significant changes in patient behavior or health status to ensure patient safety.
15. Respond to all emergencies to administer appropriate care to patients within the scope of practice.
16. Track medications ordered by the authorized providers to maintain prescription medication accountability.
17. Use therapeutic nursing interventions and modalities (e.g., encouragement, rehabilitation, occupational therapy) to assist patients in regaining and improving their physical adaptive skills and decreasing maladaptive behavior.
18. Utilize universal precautions, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment to maintain infection control and ensure a clean and safe environment for all health care personnel and patients.
