Tasks:
1. Communicate in a professional and effective manner with others to establish and maintain effective working relationships in all situations.

3. Oversee inventory of tools and/or equipment to ensure their safe and proper use.

6. Assist in preparing budget estimates for material
7. Assist in training staff using various methods (e.g., formal on-site, specialized off-site, on-the-job, etc.)
8. Develop and/or write contracts, service and expense, bids, scope of work, utility reports, etc., following established guidelines.
9. Conduct staff safety meetings to develop and maintain a high-level of morale, promoting open communication and a hazard-free work environment.
10. Attend meetings for various committees (Safety, Strategic Planning, etc.) in order to gain and provide perspective and feedback.
11. Participate in inspections by observing environmental rounds with supervisors.
12. Produce cost analysis, timeframes, and materials estimates by estimating labor and materials needed for specific jobs.
13. Prioritize and schedule the assignments of various trades groups to coordinate the flow of materials so that work and job progress is properly maintained.
14. Complete requisition forms for tools, materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure proper flow of materials to assignments of various trades group.
Knowledge, Skill, or Ability:
1. Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building construction, maintenance, and repair work to supervise staff in order to accomplish a work assignment.
2. Knowledge of the principles of supervision to effectively supervise staff in the performance of their duties.
3. Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity objectives to ensure compliance with work policies.
4. Knowledge of building codes, rules, regulations, institutional operating procedures, safety orders and safety practices to maintain a safe working environment.
5. Knowledge of basic computer usage (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.) to input information, maintain records and reports, expedite processing, create better presentations, and communicate effectively.
6. Knowledge of job timelines, material take offs, and inspection dates to ensure projects follow federal, state, and local laws.
7. Knowledge of Americans With Disabilities Act to ensure workplace follows this federal regulation.
8. Knowledge of methods used in requisitioning, purchasing, receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing materials and supplies to ensure the proper flow of materials so work assignments are properly completed.
9. Skill to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and provide information to make recommendations, write reports/correspondence, etc.
10. Ability to inspect the work of staff to complete assigned tasks in the maintenance, repair and/or major/minor construction of buildings and structures.
11. Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action to deal with situations encountered on the job
12. Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans and specifications to accurately complete job assignments.
13. Ability to estimate costs (e.g., labor, materials, etc.) based on blueprints, plans, specifications, or procure materials and supplies to stay within budget.
