Final Filing Date: 1/25/2019

Job Description and Duties

Come support an enthusiastic team of scientists and engineers working to reduce fuel consumption and harmful emissions, and increasing access to clean transportation.  The California Air Resources Board is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in air pollution control, establishing innovative and dynamic programs to protect and improve air quality for the citizens of California.  The Innovative Strategies Branch (ISB) within the Mobile Source Control Division (MSCD) is seeking  an Office Technician (OT) who is highly motivated and professionally courteous with strong administrative support skills, reliable, and willing to work in a high performing team environment.

ISB is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight, of nearly 1 billion dollars in incentive funding programs designed to transform the transportation sector to near zero and zero emission technologies -- The Low Carbon Transportation Program, the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust for California, and the Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions (FARMER) Program.  These programs are designed  in consideration of ARB's funding portfolio and regulatory frame work to meet state and federal air quality requirements, as well as achieve commensurate reductions of greenhouse gases to meet California's climate change goals.  The Branch works closely within its Division in development of ARB's road map for heavy-duty on- and off-road mobile source transformation strategies to be incorporated into future State Implementation Plans, the Freight Transportation Plan, and the Scoping Plan; as well as works diligently to ensure that strategies are designed in a manner to address barriers that California’s most disadvantaged communities face in accessing advanced technology transportation.

This position will assist with administrative and clerical support for the Branch in implementation of its programs.  Specific tasks include proofing, tracking and transmitting all Branch assignments, correspondence, travel, grant administrative assignments and tasks, organizing and ordering office supplies and equipment, maintaining branch files, answering the branch telephone line and directing calls to appropriate staff, and assisting with coordination of calendar events for branch.  In addition, the OT will assist the Grants Administration Section in tracking flow of grants received.
