Job Description and Duties

Under California Government Code 14200, this position is eligible for hybrid telework for eligible applicants residing in California, with on-site presence required at least two times per week. Candidates who reside outside of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment.

Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded. In accordance with CSD’s Policy Directive 22-001, all telework employees utilize a shared workspace or “hotel” space when working on-site and may be required to report in-person to headquarters and/or off-site locations more frequently as determined by management. The Department reserves the right to modify or cancel telework agreements and/or conditions as needed.

Under general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs professional accounting duties of average difficulty, which requires an understanding of accounting principles and procedures, governmental accounting and budgeting, the uniform accounting system and financial organization and procedures of the State of California and related laws, rules and regulations, principles of business management, principles of public finance, and business law. This position controls the details of the departmental funding and expenditure activities and, at times, will be given broad discretion in the solution of problems. The Accounting Officer (Specialist) reviews and approves expenditure transactions processed through vouchers to ensure payments are in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and management requirements.
