Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by creating innovative solutions, strengthening partnerships and collaborations, and embracing technology. The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) leverages data and technology to advance goals and inform action and accountability.

 

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager III, Chief, IT Fiscal and Administrative Branch, the Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory), Chief, Procurement Lifecycle Management and Personnel Operations Section, has full supervisory responsibility for leading and directing the activities of professional and technical staff within the Contracts and Procurement Unit which oversees contractual services, purchase orders, and related divisional approvals (e.g., Information Security Officer, Infrastructure Support Branch, and CIO) as necessary, as well as the Personnel Operations Unit whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing personnel support activities, such as, assisting staff and management regarding hiring and human resources requests, and playing a critical role in collaborating with the Human Resources Division on behalf of ITSD.

Telework Information

This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
