Job Description and Duties

This is a continuous, year long job posting with the following quarterly cutoff dates:

  • January 15
  • April 15
  • July 15
  • October 15
Candidates must have eligibility and submit applications in each quarter by the cutoff date in order to be considered for that round of recruitment.

The incumbent performs a variety of tasks under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I. The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) provides professional, quality service and accurate information to the public by accepting, investigating, and resolving the more varied and complex complaints of housing discrimination, denial of services by a public accommodation, and acts of hate violence under the Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Ralph Civil Rights Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act. This is a full journey level position.

Working Conditions

    Department Information

    The CRD is the state agency charged with enforcing California’s civil rights laws. The mission of the CRD is to protect the people of California from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations and from hate violence.  

    Telework Opportunity

    The California Civil Rights Department supports hybrid work schedules, including telework days, for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely, as operationally allowed. Travel expenses from your home to your assigned headquarters location is considered a normal commute and are not reimbursable.

    The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how the candidate’s education, training, experience, and/or skills qualify them for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.

    Instructions: SOQ must be typed in 12 point Arial font, limited to two (2) pages, candidate name is entered at the top of each page, questions are numbered and address the following inquiries:

    1. Describe your experience in working independently and being self-directed.
    2. Describe your experience handling multiple tasks, how you set priorities and organize work.
    3. Describe your experience working in high pressured work situations and how you cope with competing deadlines.
