Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by engaging in tuberculosis prevention control activities that are mandatory state core functions codified in Health and Safety Code 120125-120150.

 

The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) will work primarily as a fiscal analyst and is responsible for overseeing local health care jurisdictions receiving state and federal local assistance funding. This position conducts ongoing evaluations of local programs funded through local assistance and assists in developing strategies and recommendations for policy improvements. The AGPA will also work independently, with minimal supervision, to carry out a variety of operational policy and personnel-related assignments.

 

The AGPA works under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II, Resources Planning and Management Section Chief of the Tuberculosis Control Branch.

Working Conditions

Telework Information

This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

The Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC) works to promptly identify, prevent, and control infectious diseases that pose a threat to public health, including emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, vaccine-preventable agents, bacterial toxins, bioterrorism, and pandemics. The Tuberculosis Control Branch (TBCB) is comprised of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of public health professionals that provide leadership and resources to control and eliminate tuberculosis.
