Are you looking for an exciting career? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and talented technology specialist to join our team. The Business Application Services Engineering group provides services on a cloud platform which supports multi-tier architecture and multi-platform applications to administer benefits through the use of information technology to serve California businesses and citizens.

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I works as a specialist in support for the design of modern application integration architectures, business  application services, organization's enterprise information technology operations, including all associated hardware/software components and the confidential and sensitive data used at the EDD. The  incumbent participates in the integration of new applications, application upgrades, review/refine technical documentation, functional specifications, support product development, application testing, implementation and production migration for departments' business applications;    monitors operational support systems and Service Now tickets to ensure that the department’s business application delivery meet or exceed defined Service Level Agreements.  

The incumbent performs a variety of technical tasks in the engineering and support of the Infrastructure Services Division's lines of business to ensure the availability of EDD's mission critical applications such as Unemployment Insurance Online (UIO), State Disability Insurance Online (SDIO), Paid Family Leave (PFL), and Payroll Tax programs (ACES); and serves as project lead working with other leads and engineers. To stay current with industry standards, the incumbent will support our legacy platforms and coordinates system upgrades and migrations from legacy technologies to the latest standards.

The incumbent must ensure the completed staff work is of high quality and completed in a timely and professional manner. These tasks require the incumbent to have current business knowledge and a significant depth and breadth of technical knowledge and project management methodology experience. The incumbent must stay current on departmental procedures and configuration management standards to ensure compliance. The incumbent significantly contributes toward the growth of the Information Technology Branch (ITB) into a customer-focused services organization by following ITB cultural principles and practices. This position requires the candidate to have a positive work attitude, be proactive and collaborative, provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with others at various levels.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Position exists at EDD’s Headquarters office at 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, California.

Background Investigation Requirement
