Job Description and Duties

The Department of Finance is offering a paid internship opportunity in the Office of State Audits and Evaluations. Participating interns work under the direct supervision of an experienced supervisor and gain on-the-job training in the field of auditing that integrates education, career development, and public service.

Interns will independently gather, evaluate, and analyze information on an assigned project. Interns will interact with professional staff and attend staff meetings or other unit activities.

Special Requirements

Virtual interviews via web portals or phone may be offered as deemed appropriate and feasible by the hiring manager – standard in-person interviews will still be offered if conditions permit.  

 

Finance operates under a hybrid telework model, which requires employees to work in the office (report to headquarters) for a minimum of two days during the workweek. Student Assistants’ participation in the telework program will be on an occasional basis determined by the assignment and operational need.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Accounting/Auditing:
Possess an interest in accounting, auditing, or a comparable field.

Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.

Work Ethic: Essential personal qualifications include integrity, initiative, dependability, and good judgment.

Communication Skills: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Must be willing to travel to worksites away from headquarters, which could include overnight travel or multiple day trips. Intern’s school schedule will be considered when determining work hours and location, including travel, if any.
