Our Investment Technology & Performance (ITP) group within the Investment Office (INVO) is responsible for overseeing data and technology used to manage the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) and Affiliate Funds and drive our CalPERS mission. The team is currently seeking four (4) Investment Officer (IO) III positions to be the advanced working and lead level for one of the following teams:
  • Private Markets Technology 
  • Capital Markets Technology (2)
  • Total Fund Technology
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • The Private Markets Technology IO III will act as a lead for private markets investment technology, including portfolio management systems, and pre- and post-investment tools. 
  • The Capital Markets Technology IO III's will act as a lead for capital markets technology, including trading platforms and portfolio management systems.
  • The Total Fund Technology IO III will act as a lead for total fund portfolio management technology, including multi-asset investment platforms and tools.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with CalPERS' investment leadership and peers within asset class program areas, vendors, in addition to management and peers within the Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) organization
  • As lead, recommend implementation and project approaches for investment business systems necessary to influence the success of INVO's overall investment and technology strategies
  • Perform vendor relationship management and technology platform support and governance at an advanced level using best practice methods 
  • Lead complex systems analysis and solution implementations
  • Review and approve the internal investment systems, processes, and data analysis documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimize Technology Management operational processes to align with INVO organizational systems, business needs, and controls to reduce operational risk
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, methodologies, and trends to inform the success of INVO's overall investment and technology strategies
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite per week.

This position is eligible for an annual incentive award and Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) pay differential. The annual incentive opportunity is 0-20% of salary and is based on the level of achievement against several quantitative and qualitative measures. Permanent full-time employees who possess certification as a CFA may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.
