Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) - Applicants are required to submit an SOQ. The SOQ is a discussion of how an applicant’s education, training, experience, and skills meet the criteria in the duty statement to qualify the candidate for the position. The SOQ must follow the numbered format. The statement must respond to the criteria below, must not exceed two pages in length, and be typed in Arial size 11 font. Resumes and cover letters will not take place of the SOQ. Failure to include and complete the SOQ may result in disqualification for interview.
1. What experience or skills do you have that make you a good fit for a role in transportation planning? Provide examples of your knowledge, skills and experience with urban/regional transportation systems, planning process and principles of transportation planning.
2. Describe your experience with effectively communicating and collaborating with various groups of different professional levels, conflicting perspectives, and diverse backgrounds. What were some of the challenges, how did you respond, and what was the outcome?
3. What is your experience with reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness according to continuously changing policies. How do you utilize resources to make sound recommendations?
4. Provide an example of a project, class, or task where you collected and analyzed data, and presented results both in writing and orally. What was your role, and how did you apply your technical skills in the process (e.g. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), AutoCAD, Excel, Adobe, Tableau, ArcGIS)?

the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.
