Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager l (SSM l) the Associate Governmental Program/Staff Services Analyst intakes public inquiries and performs analytical work to resolve complaints related to Foster Youth Rights, and care, services and placement of children in foster care. Provides In-person and virtual trainings to foster youth, resource families and county agencies on the rights of children and youth in foster care. The OFCO believes the diversity of our team and their unique ideas inspire innovative solutions to further our mission of resolving complaints related to Foster Youth Rights, and the care, services, and placement of children in foster care.

This position will be headquartered in any of the following counties:

Sacramento, Orange and Los Angeles


This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. The mission of the California Office of the Foster Care Ombudsperson (OFCO) is to advocate on behalf of foster children and youth regarding their care, placement, and services. Experience working in and/or knowledge of Child Welfare Practices including the Foster Care system,

Juvenile Legal process, and/or direct services provided to youth.

Ability to exercise initiative and flexibility.

Experience working effectively both independently and cooperatively with others.

Experience effectively communicating with staff at all levels, both orally and in writing.
