Job Description and Duties

What will you do?

As the Business Services Manager (Staff Services Manager II-Supervisory), you will direct the functions of the Business Services Unit (BSU), including contracting, procurement, facility management and space planning, records management, asset management, mail distribution, and the reception desk tasks. The Business Services Manager is a working supervisor responsible for supervising and directing subordinate staff in their day-to-day responsibilities as well as personally conducting the more complex analytical work. Specifically, you will:

  • Provide direct supervision to the various levels of Business Services staff, including assigning tasks and monitoring staff progress on assignments, as well as reviewing work and providing mentoring and training as necessary.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the procurement activities of IT and Non-IT goods and service contracts.
  • Oversee the development of Request for Offers (RFO), Requests for Proposals (RFP), Invitation for Bids (IFB), and oversee the bid and contract award process.
  • Utilize and transact within the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) for contracts, procurements, asset management and PCard.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert responsible for large and small scale facility projects, space planning, office design and layout, equipment and furniture needs, repairs, and office move requests.

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for participation in the office’s hybrid telework program for up to one day per week.
  • Work at the alternate work location must be conducted in a space that is ergonomically sound, private, distraction-free, and has safe working conditions to be eligible to telework.
  • Work performed in the office is in an air-conditioned high-rise building with elevator access and both natural and artificial lighting.
  • Work requires sitting for an extended period of time using a personal computer and the use of standard office equipment, such as phones, copiers or scanners.
  • Work may require periodic non-standard work hours and work during weekends to meet workload needs and demands.
