Job Description and Duties

BCDC is looking for a Climate Adaptation Planner to join the Adaptation Planning Unit. This role will help advance the agency’s Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (RSAP) through supporting local governments, communities, and stakeholders in understanding and applying adaptation planning topics, concepts, and policies in practice. The RSAP is an award-winning, first-of-its-kind plan that contains Guidelines for how local governments along the Bay shoreline must plan and prepare for sea level rise and coastal flood impacts. You will take an active and lead role to research complex adaptation topics, develop resources and tools to advance emerging adaptation challenges, and coordinate with state, regional, federal agencies and partners. You will also play a large role in shaping the development of Subregional Plans and provide recommendations on plan and policy alignment with the RSAP Guidelines. This is a highly collaborative position, both internally and externally. It includes a strong research and analysis emphasis, along with outreach and engagement with diverse stakeholders to incorporate knowledge and expertise into planning, policy, and technical resources.

Assessment of fit for the position depends on fit using three criteria: Minimum requirements (see below), knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in the Duty Statement, and desirable qualifications (see below).  Please ensure that you review all materials prior to applying for the position to asses your fit for the job.

BCDC understands that the successful candidate may not fit the job description perfectly. If you are excited about this role but not sure you meet the desirable qualifications, we encourage you to apply anyway.
