A salary range of $13,831 - $18,194 per month is available for a licensed physician, subject to negotiation based on qualifications and experience. The salary ranges listed do not include an anticipated 3 percent general salary increase effective July 1, 2025.

About this Role:
DHCS is seeking an experienced candidate with experience leading health care clinical quality and health equity improvement activities to fill the role of Chief, Quality and Health Equity Division (QHED), Quality and Population Health Management (QPHM).
The Chief, QHED, leads the Department's health care clinical quality and health equity initiatives, evaluations, assurance, and improvement efforts.
The Chief, QHED, is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and processes as they relate to clinical quality and health equity improvement and assurance (compliance/monitoring) activities. Activities include providing federally required oversight, from a clinical quality and health equity perspective, across DHCS’s health care delivery systems and programs such as managed care, behavioral health, fee-for-service, and others. The Chief, QHED, also plays a key leadership role in designing, implementing, and monitoring Value-Based Payment programs, which are designed to reward health care providers for the quality of care they deliver, for the state’s Medi-Cal program.
The Chief, QHED, provides policy and fiscal-related recommendations to the Deputy Director (DD) and Chief Quality and Medical Officer (CQMO), QPHM, and collaborates with internal partners and external stakeholders such as the California Health and Human Services Agency and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The Chief, QHED, works under the general direction of the DD/CQMO, QPHM, and is a member of DHCS Executive Staff.
This position is subject to the Department's Conflict of Interest Code and filing a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) upon assuming office, annually while in office, and upon leaving office.
