Job Description and Duties

DWR’s North Central Region Office is recruiting for an Engineering Geologist who enjoys interesting, challenging, and rewarding work.

Under the close supervision of a Senior Engineering Geologist, the incumbent will use geology and groundwater hydrogeologic expertise to collect, evaluate and report groundwater data and information, analyze trends and impacts to groundwater systems, characterize groundwater basins, and report and present findings. These important activities help local and State agencies make informed and proactive planning decisions and help implement projects to address resource challenges, such as drought and groundwater recharge. 


Using state of the art science, equipment, and tools, you will be responsible for; collecting and evaluating groundwater data and information; well design and construction; groundwater data management and analysis; conducting groundwater and geology field investigations, research, and analysis; reviewing groundwater monitoring plans; writing clear, concise memos, reports, and presentations; providing technical assistance to local agencies; and conducting field work relating to data collection and well installation.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


Groundwater data collection, database management, well design and construction experience, Python or similar coding experience are highly desirable, functional knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Microsoft Office, effective communication.
