Serve in a leadership role as the Fund Operations Unit Supervisor (Unit Supervisor)
Oversee a small technical/professional unit of staff performing grant/fund management and development activities
Produce grant proposals that build capacity and strengthen public health infrastructure
Develop administrative and program procedures that allow OPP to fulfil its mission and of improving community health through policy, research, and integrated planning
Lead the development of a well-functioned grant/fund system that serves and coordinates across CDPH to maximize funding investment in California communities
Establish quality improvement tools and techniques to achieve performance objectives
Produce and manage budgets that allow CDPH to serve California communities
Support the strategic priorities of CDPH and advance the health and well-being of California's diverse people and communities, and by promoting health equity through the work of OPP

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Travel may be required for this position. Reimbursement for travel takes into consideration an employee’s designated headquarters, as reflected in the duty statement, and is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

  1. Experience in public health program management with an emphasis on managing and establishing workplans and performance measures
  2. Experience monitoring program effectiveness and making data-driven adjustments
  3. Knowledge of, and experience in the preparation, justification, and analysis of budgets
  4. Supervisory experiences as demonstrated by the ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others to ensure projects are satisfactorily completed in a timely fashion
  5. Experience developing and writing procedures, reports and guidance documents
  6. Excellent written communication skills and ability to pay attention to detail when reviewing work of subordinates to effectively meet the objectives of assignments
