Job Description and Duties

Are you passionate about providing excellent customer service for State Fund’s Brokers and Policyholders? Does the idea of championing our claims services and claims performance sound exciting? Would you enjoy leading projects, diving into claims trends and analysis, and giving important presentations to policyholders and brokers (just to name a few)?

If the answer is yes, then this is the ideal position for you!

The Claims Medical and Regulatory Division (CMRD) has an exciting opportunity for a candidate that is self-motivated, articulate, and has proven workers compensation experience. As a Claims Liaison Specialist (SSM I), every day can be a new and challenging adventure where you’ll lean on your years of claims experience and natural customer service skills. In this role, you will work with a variety of brokers, Large Accounts, and claims projects and initiatives. The Claims Liaison Specialist will work closely with Claims, Marketing, Loss Prevention and Underwriting to provide enhanced claims-related customer support to our Brokers and Policyholders.

The position may be staffed in Eureka, Redding, Rohnert Park, Pleasanton, Vacaville, Stockton, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Glendale, Santa Ana, and Riverside.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 years of workers’ comp claims adjusting experience
  • Proficient knowledge of DWC laws/regulations and Regional Office/Corporate policies and procedures relating to claims adjusting and claims adjusting support
  • Proficient knowledge of creating and giving presentations including creation of PowerPoint and delivery in person and virtually
  • Ability to present analytical reports related to claim trends at both an account and brokerage level
  • Knowledge of various functions as they impact underwriting, marketing, auditing, and claims
  • Proficient knowledge of workers' compensation insurance rules and regulations
  • Working knowledge of standard software applications

  • Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency to speak in front of large groups

  • Track record of stellar customer service and of establishing strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team and independently to accomplish assigned objectives
  • Ability to research and analyze information and interpretation of laws/regulations, policies, and procedures to proactively make and implement recommendations and decisions
  • Skill/Ability to design, plan, and implement policies, procedures, and workflow processes
  • Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully and is consistently a top performer
  • Maintains predictable and regular attendance
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, and Power Point

Special Requirements

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
