This Syndromic Surveillance (SyS) Program Support Analyst position within the Center for Infectious Diseases (CID), Office of Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response (OIDPR), supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by supporting the implementation, utilization, maintenance, and operation of the California Syndromic Surveillance (CalSyS) Program. This program facilitates timely and broad monitoring of population health, ultimately leading to more rapid and targeted disease, illness, injury control and prevention strategies, as well as increased situational awareness for public health response.
The CalSyS Program activities include onboarding of healthcare facilities in California to the state’s designated syndromic surveillance system, administering data use agreements with Local Health Departments (LHDs), developing regulations, analysis and dissemination of syndromic surveillance data, provision of technical support to build and maintain the state’s system, implementation of a variety of communication strategies (e.g., communities of practice, training and technical assistance, meetings, website content, data dashboards, reports), and implementation of Health and Safety Code relevant to the state’s syndromic surveillance activities. The SyS Program Support Analyst will provide programmatic and administrative support designed to ensure successful completion of all Program activities and overall Program operations.
