Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I (Technical Staff) is a member of the Enterprise Architecture unit Network Security team responsible for supporting and administering the Department of Finance's network security, Microsoft Azure cloud, and on-premises infrastructure systems and projects. The incumbent to this position will act as a technical project staff and network security administrator for the Department of Finances’ Microsoft O365 Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments.

The Information Technology Specialist I incumbent must demonstrate the ability to support complex information technology initiatives and projects, have a high-level understanding of cloud computing technology (e.g., PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS), and have a cooperative working relationship with team members and business customers. The incumbent must possess strong organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills; works independently and in a team environment; participates in meetings, provides status reports, and completes work assignments effectively, accurately, and timely. The incumbent must keep up with current and industry trends, standards, and practices related to cloud computing technology and security.

Special Requirements

Finance currently has a hybrid telework model, which requires employees to work in the office a minimum of two days during the workweek with additional in office days required as needed and sometimes on short notice, for reasons such as hearings, site visits, or required in-person meetings or trainings. Implementation of Executive Order N-22-25 requiring four in-office work days has been postponed until July 1, 2026, but may be subject to change.

  10. Demonstrate a solid understanding of Network and Network Security administration, troubleshooting, techniques and concepts.
  11. IT Project Management.
