Job Description and Duties

SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / HENRY W. COE STATE PARK

"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program.  Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application.  Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.  If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program)."

The reporting location for this position is the Henry W. Coe SP HeadquartersThis position will work under the supervision of State Parks Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger).

This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all visitors, assisting with programs, interpretive talks, perform entrance station or counter work and answer visitor questions via phone or in person. Monitor and maintain accurate Reserve-California data for reservations and assist visitors with reservations and invoices. Use of state vehicles might be required.

This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Working Conditions

Work involves moderate exposure to the elements, such as extreme temperatures, dust, dirt, smoke, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Outdoor works is common. Typical work activities involve lifting 35 pounds and frequent and prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.

Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and special events. Hours and days are flexible. Occasional travel may be required to assist other park units or for in town school programs and community outreach. Must be willing to operate off-highway vehicles, training will be provided.
