State Compensation Insurance Fund’s (“State Fund’s”) Bakersfield Legal office is seeking a motivated attorney at the Attorney III or Attorney classification to join our exceptional legal team. At State Fund, we represent the insured employers and various State Agencies of California, handling challenging workers' compensation-related issues. Who We Are Looking For:
We invite and welcome experienced attorneys ideally with workers’ compensation litigation experience, and who are licensed in California to apply. While prior workers’ compensation experience is an advantage, it's not a requirement. Newly admitted attorneys are highly encouraged to apply for an opportunity to join our team, especially those who are eligible at the Attorney classification. Location:
The Bakersfield Legal unit appears at Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices throughout Central California. Attorneys within this unit primarily appear at the Bakersfield WCAB location. However, the incumbent/successful candidate may be required to appear at other WCAB offices and locations on occasion.
These positions offer the flexibility of remote work. However, the successful candidate will be required to attend some hearings and other calendar commitments such as depositions, arbitrations, meetings, and training in-person.

- Collaborating closely with internal and external clients
- Drafting compelling pleadings, correspondences, and communications
- Conducting thorough discovery
- Skillfully negotiating and drafting settlements
- Making confident court appearances, including trials
