ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / NATURAL RESOURCES / COLUMBIA STATE HISTORIC PARK
The reporting location for this position is Columbia State Historic Park in Columbia, CA. This position will work under the close supervision of Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).
We are looking for a team player to work in some of the most beautiful parks in the State Park System including Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Columbia State Historic Park, Millerton Lake State Recreation Area, Great Valley Grasslands State Park, Pacheco State Park, and the newly acquired Dos Rios property.
The Environmental Scientist will have primary responsibility for administering the Central Valley District's Wildlife Program including native wildlife protection and management; California sensitive, threatened, and endangered wildlife species management; control of feral wildlife/domestic species throughout the district; preparing regulatory and compliance documents for internal environmental review; drafting reports and preparing for routine correspondence; researches grants; and do other related work. May act as lead on natural resources stewardship activities and specific projects.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

Work indoors in climate-controlled buildings, work outdoors in variable weather conditions. Work in hazardous situations (e.g., around fire, chemicals, etc.) Work environment may have exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Typical working hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on full days, but schedules may vary depending on available funding and operational need. This position may also work nights and weekends depending on program/project needs.
