Job Description and Duties

The Data Outcomes Unit in the System of Care Branch (SOCB) at the California Departmental of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking critical thinkers who are highly motivated, possess excellent data and analytical skills or those who would love to learn more about data, and who can communicate well written and orally. Is this position for you? 

The Data and Outcomes Unit coordinates state accountability and oversight efforts and responsibilities, including compliance, performance, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), survey creation, and data analysis of current efforts to reform the California Foster Care System. This is pursuant to recent legislation that seeks to realize California's longstanding goal that all children live as members of committed, nurturing, and permanent families. The unit also works closely with advocates, care providers, the legislature, and the public on issues affecting the child welfare system and community care facilities under its jurisdiction.

Probation: There is a 12-month probation period for this position.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80. 

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. 

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

The Analyst in the Data and Outcomes Unit will work as part of a team, individually, and perform both written and verbal analytical assignments related to data analytics and performance oversight framework.
