In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Interpersonal Skill: Ability to communicate and write well, speak, read and write English; ability to work one-on-one with other employees and speak in front of large groups. Education equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
Skill to: Perform fish cultural duties of trapping, spawning and caring of eggs and fry, rearing of fish, cleaning of fish rearing ponds, grounds and facility maintenance, vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance and simple record keeping. Conduct water quality monitoring and sampling, observe safety protocols, and act as lead person over small crew for hatchery projects and fish culture activities.
Aptitude for: Fish and Wildlife conservation work, construction, repair, and maintenance work; willingness to work unusual hours and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; willingness to do heavy manual labor, work in adverse weather conditions, and to wear a prescribed uniform and use of a respirator; keenness of observation; tact; and reliability.
Experience using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
