Under the general direction of the Supervisor (SUP) II in BCIA’s Criminal Record Update Program (CRUP), the SUP I plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Section; develops plans and strategies for improvements to current processing technologies; represents the Bureau in meetings with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies regarding applicant or criminal issues; meets with vendors and Division information technology personnel regarding program automation issues; sets work priorities; and reviews legislation and its impact to the program.
The SUP I provides direct project management and oversight of the day-to-day operations; is responsible for ensuring consistency within the program in regard to employee training, staff interaction, and work assignments; develops and documents program policies and procedures; formulates and presents policy recommendations to executive management regarding technical and personnel issues; and identifies and makes policy/process recommendations regarding overlapping business processes among bureau and division programs.
Supervising a team of professional staff, technicians, specialists, and analysts, the SUP I will lead efforts to streamline workflows, improve communication, and improve process efficiencies. The SUP I is expected to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, analyze sensitive and complex issues, conduct high-level analysis, make critical decisions, and provide input to internal and external stakeholders at various levels of organizations. The SUP I will lead projects, the analysis and implementation of legislation, requests for data, and direct outreach and training efforts.
This position functions with independence and plays a critical role in both bureau and division policy decisions, handling operational and administrative issues, and leading program staff.
