Under the supervision of the Supervisor of the Renewable Integration Unit, the Energy Analyst (EA) serves as part of an interdisciplinary team to assist in the planning and implementation of the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) research, development, demonstration, and deployment programs. The EA conducts work of average difficulty on consultative and analytical assignments such as program planning, grant and contract management, decarbonization technology assessments, information sharing, outreach and community engagement, events coordination, and project and program evaluation. The EA assists with a variety of analytical tasks in support of technologies and strategies that accelerate electrification and integrate more renewable energy on the electric grid.
The Energy Research & Development Division deploys over $200 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy and climate change policies, including but not limited to the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management. The Energy Supply Branch works to advance cutting edge renewable energy technologies for the electricity and gas sectors. The Renewable Integration Unit focuses on technologies and strategies that optimize higher penetrations of renewable generation and accelerate adoption of integrated distributed energy resources (DER) and electrification; examples include microgrids, power electronics devices, DER aggregation technologies, electric vehicles, and improved forecasting methodologies.
