Job Description and Duties

Join Our Financial Reporting Team at State Fund


Are you passionate about leading teams and delivering high-quality financial reporting in a dynamic environment? State Fund is seeking an Insurance Accounting Manager to drive accuracy, compliance and team excellence.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of senior accounting analysts and play a key part in ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting. You’ll help drive the monthly close process and ensure compliance with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and internal controls.

What You’ll Do

Under the direction of the Senior Insurance Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Lead and oversee the accurate and timely reporting of State Fund’s financial information in compliance with SAP
  • Manage the general ledger and oversee related data, processes, and system integrity
  • Provide leadership, support, and clear performance expectations for staff

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • CPA designation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or GAAP
  • Proven experience leading a team in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to meet reporting deadlines with accuracy and consistency
  • Experience with process improvements and internal controls
  • Solid understanding of accounting policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
