Job Description and Duties

The Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI) is where you want to be!

The Continuous Process Improvement Unit (CPI) within OSI is seeking a Lead Process Improvement Consultant, who will provide quality consultation services to various DOJ units as a process improvement subject matter expert. The consultant will use numerous strategies and methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma to upgrade workflow performance as well as technical writing skills to document and standardize policies and procedures. Under the direction of CPI’s supervisor, the Lead Process Improvement Consultant will lead process improvement projects to success by developing and implementing action plans, practicing research/data-based decision-making, communicating to all stakeholders with extensive attention to detail, and ensuring effectiveness is measured.

Working Conditions

This position offers a fully remote or hybrid schedule, i.e. combined remote and in-office work schedules. In the event that occasional travel to work location (Sacramento) is required, notice will be provided. DOJ reserves the right to modify or terminate telework program participation upon written notice.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in or strong working knowledge of process improvement principles, trends, and methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Experience in or strong working knowledge of project management principles, trends, and methodologies.
  • Advanced writing skills and experience in drafting, reviewing, editing, and delivering technical information (such as technical documents and data analyses) to intended audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills with the ability to work independently, problem-solve logically and creatively, and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in providing quality customer service to build professional and collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders. This includes deeply analyzing audience needs and using various communication strategies to keep stakeholders apprised.
  • Ability to strategize, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects to deliver high quality work products in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Planner, and Teams).
