The duties of this job include: rocket-netting and banding of northern pintail before the beginning of the waterfowl hunting season, rocket-netting and banding of Aleutian Canada geese in late fall and applying neck collars for mark-resight surveys conducted later in the winter; collecting tissue samples from greater white-fronted geese harvested at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge waterfowl check stations for DNA analysis to determine subspecies status. Track radio-marked Tule white-fronted geese using VHF telemetry from the ground and from fix-winged aircraft from fall to winter. Other duties include data entry, trap gear maintenance and potentially waterfowl disease sampling.

This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Employees are currently required to work in-person at least two (2) days per week. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.
