Job Description and Duties

This position is limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Under the general supervision of the Correctional Case Records Manager (CCRM), the Supervising Case Records Technician (SCRT) performs varied duties of complexity and difficulty related to the supervision of Case Records Technician’s (CRT) in the processing, maintaining and control of incarcerated people records and acts as a department liaison on Case Records related issues with State, City, County and private sector Law Enforcement and other agencies. Duties include intake, transfer, holds, warrants, detainers, Board of Parole Hearings, parole and discharge processes and are in compliance with State laws, rules, regulations and departmental policies meeting statutory requirements.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 30, 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Working Conditions

About this location -- Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country.It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities (fishing, swimming, camping, skiing, golfing, etc.).The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park.

The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers male camps located throughout California.

Skill to: Operate office machines (e.g., scanners, printers, copiers, labelers, fax machine, telephone, etc.) in order to process documents/forms and disseminate information. Ability to: Interpret written and numerical data in order to perform assigned duties. Utilize systems and software applications (e.g., SOMS, ERMS, Board Information Tracking System (BITS), etc.) to ensure proper housing and release of inmates/youthful offenders. Accurately enter data into a computerized database to ensure precise record keeping and tracking. Learn and understand a broad range of technical data in order to comply with Departmental policy/office procedure. File case records documents to maintain security and confidentiality. Maintain a supervisory filing system to ensure staff accountability. Communicate effectively using good judgment, tact and professionalism to disseminate information and respond to inquiries. Perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculation to create statistics, reports and inventory. Apply laws, rules and regulations to complete assigned duties in accordance with Departmental policy. Interpret and use reference material in order to understand and apply appropriate laws, rules and regulations. Follow written and verbal instructions in order to complete assigned duties correctly within established timeframes. Write clear and comprehensive reports in order to disseminate information and deal tactfully with staff, governmental agencies, and inmates/youthful offenders/parolees. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action to ensure staff follows through with daily assigned tasks. Effectively train/supervise new employees and staff to ensure Departmental policies/office procedures are followed and completed on a daily basis.
