The California Secretary of State is recruiting to fill a permanent, full-time Supervisor II in the Political Reform Division. The Supervisor II will provide guidance and oversight of the division’s analytical and administrative functions of the Campaign, Lobbying, and Public Area Units. Under the general direction of the Assistant Division Chief of the Political Reform Division, this Supervisor II oversees, coordinates, and communicates with unit supervisors and their staff to ensure appropriate use of resources, an efficient and timely workflow is maintained resulting in the successful achievement of operational objectives aligned with division program and agency strategic initiatives. The Supervisor II will regularly review the budget to ensure their units remain within budgetary limits, review contracts, and recommend approval of associated invoices, serve as an escalation point for personnel issues, oversee the division’s records retention activities to ensure compliance with policies and lead the division’s space management efforts. The incumbent must demonstrate good judgment and ability to apply sound decision-making processes.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of campaign finance and lobbying disclosure laws and reporting requirements.
• Experience managing high-volume workload operations with statutory deadlines.
• Ability to interpret complex laws, regulations, and policy and apply them consistently.
• Experience using workload metrics and performance measures to manage teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead staff through legislative, regulatory, or system changes.
• Strong customer service skills when interacting with a regulated community and other stakeholders.
• Proven ability to analyze complex issues, identify risks, and present solutions that balance operational needs, customer service, and organizational objectives
• Demonstrated interest in the importance of transparency in campaign finance and lobbying, and the implementation of new laws and regulations within the program
