Statement of Qualifications
In addition to the Standard State Application (STD 678), all interested applicants are required to submit a Statement of Qualification (SOQ). The SOQ shall be titled “Statement of Qualifications – (Your full name).” Please limit your SOQ to a maximum of 2 pages, 11-point Arial font, and 1-inch margins.
The SOQ should address your experience working within 36 CFR Part 800, the regulations that implement Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Please provide a written statement that provides a detailed description of your specific experience working in support of a project review conducted for federal undertakings subject to compliance with NHPA Section 106. In your statement, please identify and include the discrete steps found at 36 CFR Part 800 and discuss them as they relate to your work experience dealing with the identification of historic properties and assessing and mitigating effects to them if necessary.
Cover letters and resumes do not take the place of the SOQ. Applicants who do not follow these requirements may be disqualified from the examination.
Candidates that believe they meet the Minimum
qualifications based on a pattern of education from the classification
description (specifications) must provide a copy of your degree/transcripts
and/or license along with your application (STD. 678) to be considered for this
position. If selected for the position transcripts will be required
prior to appointment.
DO NOT
include any confidential information to your application or supporting
documents (i.e., Social Security Number, birthdate, marital status, medical
information, examination results, method of eligibility, etc.)
SROA/SURPLUS Applicants: You must check the SROA/Surplus as
your claimed method of eligibility and attach your SROA/Surplus letter as an
additional document.
