Job Description and Duties

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - COLORADO RIVER BOARD / RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT UNIT / GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA 

The reporting location is 770 Fairmont Avenue, Suite 100, Glendale, CA 91203-1068.

CRB is located conveniently nearly major freeways, Metrolink train stations and Metro bus routes. Parking provided on-site.

This postion will work under the general direction of the Deputy Director. CRB is seeking an enthusiastic leader and team player to join its small team. The successful candidate will lead CRB's Research and Technical Support Unit, overseeing a team of Water Resources Engineers in the production of detailed studies relating to Colorado River water quantity and quality, salinity, water supply, development and utilization of water resources, and operations and management. 
The successful candidate will be capable of performing a variety of managerial and supervisory tasks including interpreting and reviewing complex policies, reports, and documents; coordinating with member agencies to prepare written and oral congressional testimony, reports to legislative committees, regulatory boards, and others; presenting on policy-level and technical issues and program updates at Board meetings; and providing guidance to administrative and technical staff on preparation of budgets, project and contract management. The incumbent serves as CRB's Chief Information Officer and acts as Deputy Director in the Deputy Director's absence. The successful candidate must be a demonstrated leader, able to work independently and cooperatively with others, exhibit problem-solving skills, and be adept at managing competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met.

Travel is required approximately 14% of the time, which may equate to approximately 3 days per month.

– Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
