Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Housing Finance Officer (Single Family), the Information Technology (IT) Specialist I serves as a lead in solving organizational information problems and requirements through comprehensive analysis, innovate problem-solving skills, providing recommendations and implementing solutions to improve system controls and protocols.

Desirable Qualifications:
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience with presentation graphics
  • Experience with providing end user support
  • Experience as a Business Analyst
  • Experience with analyzing data and reports
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to lead a team and/or project

Working Conditions

Hybrids telework schedules are available. The amount of telework is at CalHFA's discretion. IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE WILL BE REQUIRED WEEKLY.

CalHFA is a high-rise building conveniently located in downtown Sacramento with access to public transportation (light rail and bus) and freeways (I-5, 99, and Business 80). It is a block from Downtown Commons (DOCO), the Golden 1 Center, many restaurants and shopping. CalHFA employees also have access to an on-site ATM and gym located in the building.

Candidates who are new to state service will be placed at the minimum of the salary range.

DIVISION DESCRIPTION:

The California Housing Finance Agency’s (CalHFA) Single Family Division works to help low to moderate-income homebuyers purchase homes in California. This is accomplished via the financing of first mortgages and down payment assistance. The Single Family Division also works with lending partners, municipalities, and others in the private and public sectors to facilitate homeownership. Within the Single Family Division, the Program and System Support Unit is responsible for providing support to users of custom application software as well as third-party vendor applications.

Minimum Qualifications

Information Technology Specialist I

Two years as an Information Technology Technician; or


Four years of general information technology experience performing technical and/or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in any of the six domains or emerging information technology fields; or


120 semester units (or 180 quarter units) from an accredited college or university including at least 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related course work; or


Any equivalent combination of experience and education.


When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include the specified information technology or closely related course work.
