Job Description and Duties

Analyst II
The incumbent performs a variety of tasks under the general supervision of the Supervisor I. The Analyst II provides professional, quality service and accurate information to the public by accepting, investigating, and resolving the more complex complaints of the Fair Employment and Housing Act, Unruh Civil Rights, Disabled Persons Act, GC11135, and the Ralph Civil Rights Act (aka Hate Crimes).

Analyst I
Under close supervision of the Supervisor I or District Administrator (Supervisor II) and may also receive direction from the Administrator II (Manager II), Assistant Deputy Directors or Deputy Directors, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks. The Analyst I provides professional, quality service and accurate information of more varied complexity to the public by accepting, gathering, and analyzing investigative data, and investigating and resolving complaints of unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations, and from hate violence and human trafficking.

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.

Working Conditions

This position is hybrid and will require scheduled in-office days to be established with your supervisor in accordance with Department policy.

    Department Information

    The CRD is the state agency charged with enforcing California’s civil rights laws. The mission of the CRD is to protect the people of California from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations and from hate violence.  

    CRD is the largest state civil rights enforcement agency in the country. It enforces the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Unruh Civil Rights Act, Disabled Person Act, Ralph Civil Rights Act and the California Trafficking Victims Protection Act. The Department has jurisdiction over both private and public entities operating within the State of California, including corporate entities, private sector companies that contract with the State of California, and all State department and Local governments.
