Job Description and Duties

SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) ($13.42-$14.83/ HOUR) - ORANGE COAST DISTRICT / VISITOR SERVICES (ORANGE COUNTY)

The reporting location for this position will be at Orange Coast District. This position will work under the direction of the State Parks Peace Officer Supervisor.

The primary duties of the Senior Park Aide (SPA) is to support the daily Visitor Services operation of the day use and campground operations. The SPA will be the lead position for the Visitor Services park aides including training in all aspects of public service, revenue collection, and daily campground and day use operations.  The SPA shall possess a proficient working knowledge of the Reserve California reservation and R2S2 point of sale systems.  The SPA is responsible for following all revenue generation policies, scheduling park aides, reviewing timesheets, processing attendance data, preparing all required reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).

Special Requirements

This position requires a valid California driver’s license. The incumbent’s work schedule varies based on the operational need of the park. The PA must be willing to work weekends, nights and holidays. This is a part-time seasonal position with a limit of 1500 hours per calendar year and is a uniformed position where the PA must wear a department-approved uniform and abide all grooming standards.

The SPA shall assist with code enforcement and interpretation of park rules and regulations. The SPA is responsible for efficient routine and emergency communications with State Park Peace Officers and SURCOM dispatch center.
