Job Description and Duties

Under direction of the Office of Systems Integration (OSI), Case Management, Information and Payrolling System (CMIPS) management team, the Information Technology Specialist I acts as project leader in the management of the Systems Integrator (SI) vendor, other vendors and the state to ensure effective management of all CMIPS projects, contracts and contract terms and conditions. The incumbent performs complex analysis related to IT project management disciplines

  • Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) in support of project activities.
  • Develop and participate in process improvement activities within the project management office as well as across the CMIPS organization.
  • Support PMO activities to mentor and educate others in an effort to increase knowledge, skills and abilities of all team members.
  • Support and promote teamwork activities.
  • Review and analyze data; make recommendations for course of action to meet objectives.
  • Communicate with all levels within the organization, develop presentations, speak in front of an audience and provide training.
  • Gather and compile information in an organized manner to communicate compliance and compliance variance of contractor activities.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, prepare reports, roadmaps, procedures, schedules and status of various complex IT project management activities.
  • Coordinate with others in an effort to obtain information and disseminate information related to contract requirements. Model and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Think independently and be self-motivated.
  • Conduct deliverable reviews on various complex IT projects and provide feedback to ensure the state receives quality products from contractors.
  • Lead process, training and continuous improvement activities.

Knowledge of….
  • Project Management methodologies including the development and maintenance of project management plans.
  • The Project Management Institute (PMI), A Guide to the Project management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • The Agile Manifesto.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certifications desirable, but not required. Must be willing to obtain these certifications.
  • Quality customer service and the importance of successful project outcomes.
  • Team building concepts and teamwork.
