Job Description and Duties

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
$122,988 - $139,032 annual salary

Are you looking to practice medicine and maintain a positive work-life balance? A career with California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) allows you to focus on providing quality care without the burdens of managing insurance paperwork or maintaining an unrealistic patient load. Here, in a supportive, collaborative environment, and in conjunction with one of our dedicated physicians, you will deliver primary care to our diverse patient population.

All psychiatric nurse practitioners with CCHCS must have current California RN licensure and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing certificate with board certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner, and certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

With the direction of a psychiatrist, you will:

  • Provide evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients, including those for suspected physical or neurological conditions
  • Determine patients’ need for psychiatric medication and crisis intervention
  • Assess and monitor patients’ continued use of prescribed psychotropic medications
We currently have opportunities at California State Prison, Corcoran. This central valley rural town is a short commute from the bedroom communities of Merced and Fresno. From here, you can enjoy a variety of activities, including exploring Yosemite National Park, discovering regional wineries, and cheering on the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Take the first step in joining this outstanding multi-disciplinary team and contact LaTreese Phillips, at 916-691-4818  or by email at LaTreese.Phillips@cdcr.ca.gov.

This position has the possibility of becoming permanent at a later date.
