Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK INTERPRETER I (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – ORANGE COAST DISTRICT

The reporting location for this position is Crystal Cove State Park. This position will work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist.

This position will be responsible for the less difficult development and delivery of the Department's award-winning Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students (PORTS) program. Crystal Cove's PORTS program uses an innovative distance learning system to deliver over 200 high-quality interpretive presentations into K-12 classrooms every year. The successful candidate will have an understanding of effective uses of technology and social media, a desire to connect teachers and students to California State Parks in non-traditional ways and a love of working in the field. The position demands an individual who is creative and organized with the initiative to work independently as well as collaboratively in a closely aligned team.

Work hours will vary and include weekends, daytime and evening programs, with the expectation the incumbent will work weekends.

This position may work up to 1500 hours per year.

This position requires a valid Class “C” California Driver License and successful completion of a Department of Justice “Live Scan” prior to appointment.
