Job Description and Duties

THE CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM OFFICE IS RECRUITING FOR A STUDENT ASSISTANT. POSITION IS LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO.

 

Under the close supervision of the Staff Services Manager II or manager designee, the Student Assistant will work in a learning-centered environment by participating in multifaceted activities within the Children's Residential Program Office. The Student Assistant may be assigned to assist the analysts working on special projects or assignments.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient!  The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation; within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. We offer an onsite cafeteria, onsite Golden 1 ATM, workout room and onsite day care services. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80.

The state hiring process. Successful applicants will have passed an examination for this classification or be an existing State Employee with transfer eligibility and will have followed the instructions under the Special Requirements and Required Application Documents section. Special Requirements

This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position.  In compliance with Government Code 18220, the hiring supervisor shall provide preference to qualified job applicants who are, or have been, dependent children in foster care, homeless youth, or formerly incarcerated youth.  This preference shall be granted to applicants up to 26 years of age.

The Student Assistant may work no more than 1500 hours in a calendar year.
