The Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) works under the direction of the Project Management Office (PMO) Supervisor. The ITS I will function as a technical lead for lower level employees in the PMO. The ITS I will provide IT Project Management and Planning through the California IT Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) process and perform IT Project management duties. The ITS I will also assist with Business Analysis support for IT projects and to support the development and maintenance of Enterprise Architecture models.

Special Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted with your application.  A SOQ is a narrative description of how your training, experience, and education qualifies you for the position.  The SOQ must be 11-point Arial font, single-spaced, and no more than two pages.  Writing that exceeds this page limit will not be scored.  

The SOQ should provide specific details and examples that clearly demonstrate your qualifications.  SOQs will be evaluated based on the content and writing ability, using standardized rating criteria.  Competitive applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Applicants who do not submit a completed SOQ will not be considered.

  1. Describe your experience performing all aspects of project management including facilitating brainstorming sessions.
  2. Describe your experience with control entities and your experience working with oversight.

  4. Describe your experience working effectively with a difficult stakeholder.

Required and Desirable Experience/Qualifications

  • Intermediate to expert level skills in Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to review the work of junior business analysts and mentor, train, advise, and guide them.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Desirable Qualifications: 
  • Strong knowledge, skills, and experience in Project Management; PMP and CSM Certifications preferred.
