Job Description and Duties

CVIS personnel perform routine inspections on commercial type vehicles to determine compliance with weight, size, registration, safety and equipment requirements. Inspect and test all types of commercial vehicle brake systems for compliance with the vehicle code and other applicable laws and regulations. Operate scales, detect overweight vehicles, weigh and obtain pertinent information and refer violations to an enforcement officer for action. Prepare accurate inspections report forms documenting all mechanical defects and driver qualification deficiencies, examine driver qualification cards and papers, registration, manifest, bills of lading, shipping papers and access various databases to determine compliance.

Working Conditions

This Facility is operational 24 hours day, 7 days a week. CVIS are assigned to one of three shifts, 5 days per week, consistent with the Unit 12 contract.
