Under the general supervision of the Information technology Supervisor II (ITSup II), the ITS I works as the lead technical specialist working independently and as part of the team on the most complex systems software projects related to several Department of Justice (DOJ) information technology systems of varying priorities, including mission-critical Firearms Applications. The ITS I duties include but are not limited to designing, evaluating, troubleshooting, development, enhancement, testing, and maintenance of the most complex JAVA (J2EE) applications. The ITS I will maintain and support the Firearms Applicantions and other related applications using JAVA, Oracle, PL/SQL, Oracle client tools such as SQL Developer, SQLPlus, and XML. As part of system monitoring, the position duties will analyze and resolve system failures and software problems on a 24 x 7 basis to ensure data integrity, as well as, having the system available to DOJ's Law Enforcement clients. Maybe required to work outside of normal business hours.
• Proficient with HTML and JAVA programming
• Knowledge and understanding of Oracle database, PL/SQL, Oracle database methods, and application development methodologies and tools
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of Industry Standard Best Practices and the principles of systematic problem solving to troubleshoot and test installations and designs
• Knowledge of servlets, JSPs and JAVA Database Connectivity (JDBC) API
• Knowledge of information technology systems software, programming, equipment, and capabilities in order to install, maintain, secure, and support hardware/software, apply patches and fixes and resolve problems
• Knowledge of Oracle client tools (e.g. SQLPlus)
• Knowledge of XML syntax and schemas,JSON
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships in order to participate in and lead projects, communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management

• Ability to identify problems, draws valid conclusions, and develops effective solutions to troubleshoot application and performance issues
• Ability to prepare clear and concise documentation (e.g. Operator manuals, disaster recovery procedures, etc.) to meet departmental and statewide standards
