Under the direction of a Deputy Labor Commissioner III or designee, the incumbent performs a wide variety of clerical duties
within the Retaliation Complaint Investigation (RCI) program in order to provide timely and accurate support to the program. In addition to overall clerical operations, the incumbent is responsible for intake and data entry of all retaliation claims received via referral from state of federal agencies, online submission, email, telephone, mail or in person and for the input of case information into the CalAtlas (Salesforce) and the federal IMIS database. The incumbent is also responsible for docketing cases, scanning and uploading documents, processing rejections letters, following up on requested information and documents from parties,editing and mailing out decisions to parties, and handling appeal notices.

The incumbent will also answer telephone inquiries to the RCI unit, including accepting retaliation complaints by phone, monitor and respond to inquiries from the RCI email inbox, and perform Public Information Duty (PID) by assisting the public at the counter. In addition, he or she will open and process all incoming/outgoing mail, prepare letters, statistical reports and respond to correspondence from parties; maintain, close and purge all case files based on document requirements as well as assist with handling Public Records Act (PRA) requests and the ordering of supplies.

Working Conditions

The employee will spend the majority of the time working at the district office in Santa Ana. His or her work area will be a cubicle equipped with standard office equipment. Overtime and occasional travel to an off-site location may be required for meetings and/or training. Employees are expected to be able to work independently, in a fast-paced team environment, and work well with the public and co-workers.
