Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of Innovative Technology Solutions Branch (ITSB) Manager, IT Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II (IT Spec. II) codifies the enterprise vision, leads the solution architecture, technical development, implementation, maintenance and support of DSS systems. The IT Spec. II provides technical expertise in architecture, design, development, and ongoing support to the applications supported by ITSB. The IT Spec. II leads staff and consultants. The primary duties of the IT Spec. II include developing and maintaining the technical architecture of solutions, operation, and maintenance of systems including user research, user-centric design, development and configuration, testing, and iterative implementation of the business application services using Customer Relation Management tools like Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce etc. and .Net framework or other related technologies. The primary duties of the IT Spec II lie within the Software Engineering domain, with ancillary duties in the System Engineering, Information Security Engineering, and IT Project Management domains.

The IT Spec II leads documentation of the existing data and services models, and is responsible for leading development of the to-be services and data models, ensuring that services provided map to user needs and are in full conformity with applicable State and Federal guidelines regarding confidential, protected, or personally identifiable data and Federal tax information both at-rest and in transit. The IT Spec II is responsible for the development of key project and service documentation artifacts necessary to document both existing and to-be business and service processes, including a comprehensive inventory of transmissions and outputs, business needs inventories, and technical services inventories. Responsible for leading requirements gathering, executing gap analysis to surface or crystallize service needs, and ensuring that the functional requirements inventory is maintained in a coherent, organized manner. The IT Spec II works closely with the product and service owners to ensure that business functional or process requirements are completely and coherently translated to corresponding technical services and requirements, and provides oversight and ensures ongoing normal functioning, inclusive of all reports and needed outputs, of the existing service solution. As modules of the replacement/re-homed solution become ready to enter into production, the IT Spec II will work with management, customers, and clients to ensure stable decommissioning and seamless cutover/deployment.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient!  The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80.

This position has been designated as eligible for telework. The position may require in-person attendance when requested.

Special Requirements

This position is subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.
