Job Description and Duties

Duties

Under the supervision of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services, the incumbent provides

overall management and supervision of the Student Health Unit which provides nursing care to students at both the California School for the Deaf and the California School for the Blind.  The nursing supervisor is responsible for the nursing care and practices of the nursing staff and the establishment and implementation of a nursing philosophy and the standards of nursing care. Provides direct or indirect student care as appropriate, the development and implementation of the student’s care along with management of medical records, coordination of goals with staff and physician(s), promotion of interdisciplinary cooperation in the planning and implementation of health care, schedule shifts assignments and supervise staff work performance.

Required Qualifications

1) Possession of the legal requirements to practice as a professional Registered Nurse in California

2) Ability to work day shift and occasional evening or night shift

3) Prior experience working in pediatrics

The California School for the Deaf, Fremont CSDF) is one of 6 State Special Schools under the Department of Education. Located on a 96 acre campus shared with the California School for the Blind, and the Diagnostic Center, North, we are a short walk from BART and have free parking for employees.

5) Fluency in American Sign Language
