Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Application Support Section Manager, an IT Manager I, the Cloud Application Developer works in a lead software developer capacity within the Application Development unit. The incumbent must continuously demonstrate an advanced understanding of the software development lifecycle, possess a strong background in software engineering, and the desire to stay current on modern automation technologies. This position acts as an administrator for the Azure DevOps environment. The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the updating of legacy programs for cloud readiness and development of new home-grown applications to meet business needs. This position may be required to carry an agency-issued mobile phone and occasionally respond to after-hours issues.

Department Information

The State Treasurer's Office is a small department located only a few blocks away from the State Capitol Building, and is close to public transportation, with parking garage options nearby. The building is a short walk away from the State Capitol Park, which is a wonderful place to exercise and enjoy the beautiful landscape during the fair-weathered months.     Desirable Qualifications

    In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
    • Strong knowledge of cloud computing: The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, as well as knowledge of the different cloud deployment models, such as private, public, and hybrid clouds.
    • Azure platform expertise: In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform is critical for this position. This includes knowledge of Azure services such as app services, storage, networking, security, and databases.
    • Experience with solution design: The ideal candidate should have experience in designing cloud solutions, including the ability to identify and recommend the appropriate Azure services and components to meet business requirements. It is essential to have experience in creating cloud solutions using Microsoft .Net technologies.
    • Programming and scripting skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerShell, C#, Python, and JavaScript for automating tasks and managing Azure resources.
    • Knowledge of DevOps: The ideal candidate must have experience in DevOps processes and tools for deploying, testing, and managing Azure solutions.
    • Communication skills: The candidate should have excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts and solutions to stakeholders and team members.
    • Project management skills: The candidate should have experience in managing projects and working with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions on time and within budget.
    • Certification: Microsoft certificates preferred, including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, which demonstrates expertise in designing and implementing solutions on the Azure platform.
